I have an old pair of "548slip joint pliers and they are my mainstay for pliers. I use mine for all the jobs I need to use pliers. They work the best for me when I do drum brakes, they grip all the parts needed to be removed and work just as good reinstalling them ! Only problem I have is finding a store that carrys them so I can have 2 pairs !
