Since its June 2009 debut, Channellock's #89 Rescue Tool has received rave reviews from firefighters and first responders. We've spent the past month taking the #89 on the road, most recently to Allentown Pa., home of the Allentown Fire Department and Training Academy. We rode along with Allentown's Lieutenant James Kutz and his team who put the #89 to work in the field. They used the tool to pry, punch, shear, tighten and loosen just about everything you could imagine, and the #89 didn't let them down – it performed like a champ, earning some serious street cred from Kutz's team. Photos and videos from Allentown will be coming soon to the CHANNELLOCK® Web site, so be on the lookout.
The #89 is also gaining fans throughout the country. To date, over 6,000 people have signed up for the #89 Rescue Tool "Eights and Nines" Sweepstakes. If you haven't yet registered, visit www.theRescueTool.com for contest rules and a chance to win the grand prize – an all-expense paid trip to the 2009 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement ceremony and game. We're also awarding weekly #89 prizes and custom-engraved Rescue Tools for 25 first responders in the station of your choice. But you'd better hurry; the contest ends on July 23rd!
We continue to place Rescue Tools in fire stations across the country and, with such overwhelmingly positive feedback, are fiercely committed to continuing the development of the Rescue Tool line so that first responders can focus on the emergency at hand, not searching for the right tool.
