For anyone who has had the misfortune of being impacted by fire, this week is an important one. October 3 – 9 is National Fire Prevention Week. It was started after the 1871 Great Chicago Fire that burned four square miles of the city to the ground. While we’ve come a long way since then, fire still kills more people in the U.S. in a typical year than all natural disasters combined, reminding us of the importance of fire safety.

Here at CHANNELLOCK®, this week also brings to mind the American heroes who protect us from fires. Because our nation’s firefighters and first responders put their lives in danger to protect ours, we developed the CHANNELLOCK® 6-in-1 Rescue Tool. This all-in-one device features laser heat-treated cutting edges that snap through wires and cables, a Spanner Wrench that tightens and loosens up to 6” hose couplings, a steel punch to shatter safety glass, a handle that can be used to shut off gas safety valves and a handle edge that pries open doors and windows. This video, featuring working firefighters, shows just how helpful our Rescue Tool is.
