Ever wanted to get an inside look at how our quality pliers are made? Later this week and again in December you’ll have that chance.

For those of you who have been following the Blue Board this year, you may remember that in June we mentioned the crew from DIY Network’s “Cool Tools” visited Meadville to film how our new, versatile 6.5” 412 V-Jaw tongue and groove plier is made. At the time, we noted how the “Cool Tools” crew appreciated the opportunity to get up close and personal while our associates forged, machined, assembled, polished and dipped-and-gripped a piece of raw steel into a tool that plumbers and do-it-yourselfers find very handy.

There are two chances to catch CHANNELLOCK® on the “Cool Tools: Compact Power” episode. You can watch the show (or set your DVR) at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, and 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, on the DIY Network. http://bit.ly/aQbZJg

When you tune in, you’ll see just how the useful the 412 V-Jaw is and how it’s forged. Introduced in January, the CHANNELLOCK® 6.5” 412 V-Jaw plier is designed to deliver full-size gripping power in a pocket-sized package. It features the same quality design and right-angle, maximum-bite grip as the other CHANNELLOCK® V-Jaw pliers, only in a more compact frame. That translates into a better tool for access to small spaces and working with smaller piping and tubing.

The 412 also features an undercut tongue-and-groove design which assures no slip jaw action, a reinforced edge to minimize stress breakage and a PermaLock® fastener that eliminates nut and bolt failures. All-in-all, it’s no wonder that “Cool Tools” decided to feature the CHANNELLOCK® 6.5” 412 V-Jaw tongue and groove plier.

In the meantime, if you can’t wait to see what the Meadville factory looks like, or you’re just interested to see what the show is all about, check out the “Cool Tools: Classic Update” episode that aired in November 2009 by clicking on the link below. That’s when “Cool Tools” came by to see how we make the slightly bigger (OK, much bigger) 20.25” BIGAZZ® tongue and groove plier.
