Getting a chance to show off the hard work of our associates and the efficient manufacturing process behind every CHANNELLOCK® plier is something we always look forward to. Earlier this month, we got to do just that when we hosted 10 journalists for Fiercely Made in Meadville 2014 – an event that, over the course of two days, gave reporters and editors of several home improvement and tool magazines the chance to come to Meadville, Pennsylvania, for a tour of our operations.
Fiercely Made in Meadville 2014 (which you can find on Twitter and Facebook by searching #FMiM2014) allowed us to showcase our manufacturing process, the history of CHANNELLOCK® and our hardworking, dedicated associates. Below is a short recap of the two days and what the media got to experience firsthand.
#FMiM2014 kicked off on June 10 with a welcome dinner at Montana’s Rib & Chop House, a favorite local restaurant. Bill DeArment, CEO and president of Channellock Inc., welcomed everyone and gave a history of our 128-year-old company. After a brief Q&A session and a great dinner, everyone went back to the hotel to get ready for a busy next day.
The day began with a tour led by Jon DeArment, our VP of manufacturing and engineering, through CHANNELLOCK’s two manufacturing plants.
The tour gave a behind the scenes look at how our tools are made and the fierce associates who make them.
After the factory tour we sat down with the members of the media to conduct Plier U, led by our VP of sales and marketing, Ryan DeArment. Plier U focused on the unique qualities of CHANNELLOCK® tools, how to use them and what sets them apart from the competition.
Our guests came at an excellent time – they were here to help us celebrate Bill DeArment’s 45th anniversary at Channellock Inc. Below you can see his son, Jon, presenting him with a commemorative gift to mark the occasion.
The 2014 Fiercely Made in Meadville Event was a great success, and we look forward to having similar events in the future! In the meantime, be sure to check out upcoming issues of CONTRACTOR Magazine, Contractor Supply Magazine, Electrical Construction and Maintenance Magazine, Hardware Retailing Magazine, Home Channel News, Home Fixated, Plumbing and Mechanical Magazine, PM Engineer Magazine, Reeves Journal, Residential Building Products and Technology, Supply House Times, The Hardware Connection and Tools of the Trade for their takes on the CHANNELLOCK® experience.
