After years of frustration fighting with my cheap, offshore made snap ring pliers, you know, the kind with the interchangeable sets of jaws, I FINALLY bought a Channellock 927!
I've always bought Channellock pliers and I've known for years that these were available. I honestly don't know why I bought that junk pair to begin with. If I'd have gone with my better judgement to begin with, I would've saved myself many hours of fussing and cussing!
I just bought them yesterday and already used them on a friends lawn tractor. My cheap ones wouldn't do the job (big surprise there lol!) but these popped that snap ring right off with no problem.
The mechanism that switches from internal to external is pure genius! The extra tips that come with them are a touch that only a top brand includes. Best of all, they're made in the U.S.A.! I was always a bit embarrassed to pull out a Chinese tool when all of my other hand tools are American.
