Sixth-generation, family-owned company celebrates legacy while honoring the tradespeople who keep America running

MEADVILLE, Pa. (June 16, 2026) — CHANNELLOCK®, a sixth-generation, family-owned company, is celebrating 140 years of American manufacturing in 2026, marking a milestone that reflects not only the brand’s longevity but its commitment to producing tools in the United States.

Founded in 1886 and headquartered in Meadville, Pennsylvania, CHANNELLOCK® has manufactured high-quality hand tools in Pennsylvania for 140 years. Today, the company produces more than 75 types and styles of pliers in the U.S., supporting skilled tradespeople who depend on hand tools to keep this country running.

“At 140 years, we’re not just celebrating our history. We’re reinforcing what we stand for,” said William S. DeArment, Chairman of the board of CHANNELLOCK®. “We’ve remained committed to American manufacturing through every generation because it matters to our associates, our partners and the tradespeople who rely on our tools every day.”

At a time when much of the manufacturing industry has shifted overseas, CHANNELLOCK® continues to invest in its U.S.-based operations. The company employs more than 300 people and serves more than 6,500 wholesale and retail partners globally, with products shipped to 45 countries.

As the United States prepares to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, CHANNELLOCK® stands as a rare example of a family-owned company that has maintained continuous U.S. manufacturing for more than a century, proving that American-made still has a powerful place in today’s economy.

“Our focus has always been on doing things the right way, investing in our people and quality manufacturing, and staying true to our roots,” said Jimmy Bromley, President of CHANNELLOCK®. “That commitment has carried us for 140 years, and it will continue to guide us into the future.”

To mark the milestone, CHANNELLOCK® is introducing a series of limited-edition products and branded merchandise throughout the year, available here.

Upcoming releases include:

  • A limited-edition 140th anniversary 430® ‘OG’ plier, featuring commemorative engravings and special packaging; available only during the celebration.
  • A CHANNELLOCK® branded Zippo® lighter, Case® pocket knife, and 426 Tongue & Groove Plier gift set, created to celebrate American craftsmanship across iconic brands.
  • A collection of anniversary merchandise, including hats (available now), with shirts, patches and stickers launching Father’s Day.

CHANNELLOCK® will host a public 140th anniversary celebration on August 15 at its Meadville headquarters, featuring factory tours, live entertainment, and a preview of the new CHANNELLOCK® Factory Store and Museum.

For 140 years, CHANNELLOCK® has remained focused on making high-quality tools in the United States for the people who build and maintain it. That commitment continues to define the company today and will shape the next generation of American manufacturing.
